Our story

I didn’t grow up farming. I worked as a manufacturing engineer in quality control and R&D, and later taught at the university level. I loved solving problems, improving outcomes, and digging into the details. But I also longed for space, freedom, and something I could build with my own hands.

So at 26, I bought this farm—not knowing what it would become. I was newly dating Richard, whose roots in farming ran deep. I just wanted a chunk of land where I could live freely and create something meaningful. At the time, I had no idea how much that decision would shape our future.

In 2011, someone gave us a few laying hens. I thought eggs only came in the morning (they don’t), and that small misstep sparked something much bigger. What started as a personal pursuit to feed our family well became a calling. We began raising meat chickens, then pigs, then cattle—and each year, the farm grew, slowly and intentionally.

In 2022, I left my off-farm job to run FreshORR Family Farms full time. That same year, Richard officially handed the farm over to me. It wasn’t just a transfer of the business—it was a sign of trust in the vision I had been building for over a decade.

Today, FreshORR Family Farms is a woman-owned, family-run farm raising pasture-raised poultry, forest-raised pork, and grass-finished beef and lamb. We use regenerative practices to restore the land and raise animals with dignity—no GMOs, no growth hormones, no routine antibiotics.

We do this because we care about the land we live on, the food our children eat, and the future we’re shaping—one meal at a time. And the best part? We get to share it with our community—families who care deeply about what’s on their plate and where it comes from.

Our Standard

Our standard is simple: we do things the better way, even when it’s harder.

  • Pasture-Raised Poultry: Moved daily to fresh grass, never confined, never medicated.

  • Forest-Raised Pork: Raised in the woods, where pigs can root, roam, and just be pigs.

  • Grass-Finished Beef & Lamb: No grain, ever. Just pasture, patience, and animals raised on what they were designed to eat.

  • No Shortcuts or Gimmicks: No growth hormones. No antibiotics in routine feed. No misleading labels.

  • Human Handling: We raise, transport, and process our animals with care and respect—because how an animal lives and dies matters.

This is the food we feed our own family. We wouldn’t accept anything less for yours.

Our Purpose

A better life for the animal. Better food for our bodies. A better future for our children.

We care deeply about the food our children eat and the land they’ll inherit. That’s why we raise animals the way nature intended—on pasture, with room to move, forage, and live well.

Since 2013, we’ve been committed to farming with integrity, using regenerative grazing to heal our soil, restore the land, and provide nutrient-dense food that honors both animal and eater.

We don’t use chemical pesticides, herbicides, or synthetic fertilizers. Our animals are never given antibiotics, steroids, hormones, or GMOs.

Our purpose is simple: to steward God’s creation well—and to share the health and wholeness that comes from it with the families we serve.
